BRASELTON, Ga. - Coach of the Year accolade was shared by North Florida's Joanne Berglund & Kennesaw State's Rhyll Brinsmead while KSU's Clara Aveling became the fourth-straight Owl and sixth in seven seasons to claim the ASUN Women's Golfer of the Year, announced Saturday night at the ASUN Golf Championship banquet. KSU's Chloe Thornton collected the Freshman of the Year nod
Joining Aveling on the First Team All-Conference were her teammates Roanne Tomlinson and Thornton. North Florida added two student-athletes to the First Team with Sydney Shrader & Liss Davalos. All five student-athletes were unanimous selections to the First Team. On the second team, FGCU's Laura Edmonds & Madeline Marck-Sherk joined UNF's Mindy Herrick & Teresa Conroy as well as KSU's Medy Thavong.
Thornton earned unanimous selection as the ASUN Freshman of the Year following her debut season in which her stroke average sat at 73.22 as she finished the season as the second-highest ranked conference player. Her low round of the season came at the Liz Murphey Classic with a four-under par 68. She was joined on the All-Freshman Team by FGCU's Laura Edmonds, North Florida's Liss Davalos & Daniela Gonzalez as well as Stetson's Bianca Sol Cruz.
For the second time in conference history, two league coaches shared ASUN Coach of the Year distinction with KSU's Rhyll Brinsmead and UNF's Joanne Berglund being honored. Brinsmead earns her third-straight Coach of the Year honor and the fifth of her career, while Berglund collects the first of her career. Both KSU and UNF enter the ASUN Championship in the top-70 of the most recent GolfStat rankings with Kennesaw State at 37th and North Florida at 68th.

The ASUN Conference Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor was given to North Florida's Teresa Conroy, who becomes the first-ever winner from UNF. The league announced Conroy along with four other members of the All-Academic Team on Saturday night at the 2019 Golf Championship banquet.
Conroy becomes a two-time All-Academic Team selection joining fellow Ospreys Emelie Alpe & Megan Wilshire as UNF's all-time two-time selections to the squad. Conroy, a junior, owns a 4.00 cumulative GPA as a Statistics major, while participating in nine events this season with a 74.19 stroke average. She matched her season-best with four top-25 finishes including a runner-up effort at UNF Collegiate as she finished at six-under par.
The All-Academic Team recognizes student-athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom and exemplify the ASUN's mission of Building Winners for Life. All the members of the team boast a 3.30 cumulative grade point average or better and participated in at least half of their team's events.Â
COACH JOANNE BERGLUND REMARKS
"I am so proud of these five young ladies. They have spent countless hours on the course and their hardwork and commitment to pay off. It is a true honor to be recognized by the coaches in the conference. They are truly deserving of the awards they received for their incredible accomplishments on the course and in the classroom. It speaks highly of their work ethic both athletically and academically. They continue to represent our program and UNF at the highest level."
