15 Total Swimmers Advance to Finals on Friday

STARTING BLOCK - Junior Jaqueline Barklund earned the Ospreys first "A" finals appearance of the week while several other swimmers carved time off their personal bests on the third day of action at the CCSA Championships in Lynchburg, Va.

For the day as a whole, North Florida saw 15 swimmers advance to swim in the finals of the 100-yard Butterfly, 400-yard IM, 200-yard Freestyle, 100-yard Breaststroke and 100-yard Backstroke along with the 400-yard Medley relay.

NOTEWORTHY
- Barklund became first Osprey at the 2019 CCSA Championships to qualify for the "A" final after swimming the team's fastest time of the season in the 100 Backstroke
- Groth touched in a season best during the 100 Fly prelims while Quackenbush clocked a PR in advancing to the finals
- A pair of PRs were bettered during the 400 IM prelims by Schillinger and Mutschler
- In the 200 Freestyle prelim, Showfety collected a PR
- The 100 Breaststroke brought out a team season best from Trenz along with a pair of PRs for Glennon and Cordes
- Fletcher also trimmed time off her PR in the 100 Backstroke prelims before swimming her personal best by nearly half a second in the finals
- Glennon cut half a second off her qualifying time in to finish as the highest UNF finisher in the 100 Breaststroke finals
- In the 400 IM finals, Blaakman bettered her qualifying time by three seconds to narrowly finish outside the Top 10

"Few personal best this morning to go along with 15 swims at night. Jacqueline Barklund making the A Final in the 100 Back was a good way to finish the session. Looking forward to fast swims and our 400 Medley Relay tonight."

Following Finals
"Great way to start and end the session. Our swimmers showed a lot of grit tonight. Getting after big points. Anne Fletcher capped off the 100 backstroke with a personal best of 57.44 for third in the B Final. Tomorrow is going to be a tough fight for points, I know we are up for the challenge. We are sitting in 7th place headed into the final day." -- Head Coach Ian Coffey.

UP NEXT
UNF wraps up competition in the CCSA Championships on Saturday. Prelim swims for 200 Backstroke, 100 Freestyle, 200 Breaststroke and 200 Butterfly are slated to start at 10 a.m. The night session features the event finals along with the 400 Freestyle Relay and the 1,650 Freestyle.
