Men's XC/Track Signs Robert Pedroza

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Head Coach Jeff Pigg and his staff add highly-lauded recruit Robert Pedroza to the 2020 signing class.
"Robert is an outstanding middle-distance runner," said Pigg. "He is the top returning senior in both the 800m and 1600m and has great range."Â
A native from Key West, Fla., Pedroza has earned 45 career wins in various events since 2017. He won five individual titles during the 2019 cross country season, two of which came in the FHSAA 2A district and regional championships. This season he set a personal record of 15:38 in the FSU Invitational pre-state meet, good for 16th in the state of Florida.Â
Pedroza ranks fifth in the state in the 800m (1:52) and 1600m (4:13). Both times rank in the top 100 nationally with his 800m ranked 42nd and 1600m ranked 95th. In 2018 he set a personal record in the 3200m with a time of 9:36.Â
