Team Effort Leads to Win Over Nicholls

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - All eight players that saw the floor chipped in at least two points and a final three-point play secured North Florida women's basketball's win against Nicholls State Saturday in the final game of the JU Thanksgiving Classic

Turning Point
With the score tied at 61, the Ospreys found Eremeeva down low where she had a turn around lay up and drew a foul. She successfully converted the three-point play to give UNF the win.

Bond nailed a triple with 12 seconds left in the first half to put North Florida up 30-18 - its biggest lead of the game. She finished with a season-high four.

INSIDE THE GAME
- It was a slow start for both teams, but UNF jumped on an 8-2 lead by the media. Nicholls went without a score for more than six minute before hitting back-to-back buckets to come with 10-6.
- The Ospreys then answered back with scores of their own to lead 14-6 after one.
- The Colonels hit a three in the first seconds of the second quarter before both teams went without a point for more than three minutes.
- Bond scored 11 of her 14 points in the second quarter to give North Florida its biggest lead, 30-18, at the half.
- The third quarter saw Nicholls chip away at the Ospreys lead, eventually making it a 37-33 game, but UNF ended the quarter on a 9-2 run to lead 46-35 after three.
- In the final frame, a 10-4 stretch for the Colonels put them within 57-56, but Tolbert made a three-pointer on the other end to slow the visitors.
- Nicholls held UNF to one point for almost two minutes, while tying the game on a three from Tykeria Williams.Â
- After a timeout, Eremeeva got the ball inside and did a spin move to lay the ball in and draw the foul. She successfully converted the free throw with three seconds left.
- As time wound down, it was fitting that Bond got a final block on Nicholls last second attempt.

- Eremeeva finished with nine points, eight rebounds and a block
- North Florida is now 34-9Â when leading at the half under Coach Gibbs.
- Gibbs earned his 50th career win.
- Bond matches her own single-game record of six blocks which she set on December 21, 2018. Three other players have recorded six blocks in a game.
- With her six blocks, Bond is now fourth in the UNF record book with 77 career stops.
- Nicholls State scored 26 points in the final frame - the most against UNF this season.
