DeLAND, Fla. -- North Florida women's soccer snapped a two-game losing skid with a dominating 4-0 victory at Stetson on Thursday night that clinched a spot for the Ospreys in the upcoming ASUN Tournament.
RECORDS
North Florida | 10-5-2 (4-2-1 ASUN)
Stetson | 2-12-2 (0-6-1Â ASUN)
GOALS
UNF - 1' | Thais Reiss (Kendra Hoffman)
UNF - 60' | Leah Ferlin (Hollyn Knight, Kendra Hoffman)
UNF - 66' | Kendra Hoffman (Thais Reiss)
UNF - 70' | Sydney Hauth (Thais Reiss)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- North Florida wasted little time going on the attack with Thais Reiss netting the opening goal just 38 seconds into play | Reiss launched a shot from 25 yards out that slipped under the crossbar and over the Hatter keeper following a well played drop pass from Kendra Hoffman
- Ospreys continue to put the pressure on, collecting the first seven shots of contest including five from Reiss thru 15 minutes of action
- The Hatters had their first chance at a score in the 29th minute, but UNF keeper Rhiannon Conelley raced off her line and cleared a ball out of the box in front of a charging Stetson attacker
- First half stats finished with UNF holding a 7-3 shot advantage including a 3-1 edge in scoring chances (SOG) | The Ospreys also mustered the only two corner kick opportunities in the opening 45 minutes
- Leah Ferlin nearly doubled the Osprey lead just over a minute into the second half but her blast was punched away by a diving Stetson netminder
- Minutes later Ferlin converted a chance finishing with a tap in goal off a corner kick for a 2-0 UNF advantage | Ferlin's tally came as the result of a well-served ball to the back post by Hoffman that was then headed down by Hollyn Knight to the waiting foot of Ferlin
- In the 66th minute, Reiss returned the favor to Hoffman by shuffling a pass to her just outside the box to set up an arching shot that eluded the reach of the Hatter goalie
- The Ospreys concluded the scoring in the 70th minute as Reiss dished out a second helper, finding a streaking Sydney Hauth on a run through the box
- For the match, North Florida held a 14-5 advantage in shot attempts, boasting seven shots in each half
- Conelley played 80 minutes between the pipes in earning her sixth shutout of the season
QUICK KICKS
- The goal for Reiss marked her 10th of the season, which equals the program's Division I record (Katelin Swift & Lauren Hopfensperger in 2010)
- Ferlin netted her 6th goal of the year while Hoffman notched her fourth | Hauth recorded the first goal of her collegiate career
- With two assists each, Hoffman and Reiss continue to share the team lead with five assists | The duo each finished the night with 4 points scored as well
- The win upped the season total to 10Â for UNF, marking only the second time in the Division I era with double-digit win total
- Head coach Eric Faulconer earned the 250th win of his collegiate coaching career | Faulconer also posted his 17th consecutive season as a head coach with 10+ wins
- North Florida's four goals equaled their total for goals scored in their previous six ASUN matches
- All of UNF's league wins have been shutouts this season
FAULCONERÂ TALES
"Thais got us off to a great start. That is exactly what you want to do on the road in conference play. After that I thought we took our foot off the gas a bit.  We adjusted our defensive midfield shape at halftime and our response in the second half was exactly what we wanted. We will celebrate our win tonight and get ready for the River City Rumble match up against Jacksonville on Sunday."
About 250th Victory
"I have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to do something I love for the past two decades. So many wonderful memories coaching a lot of very good teams with tremendous student athletes at Thomas University, Armstrong State and now here at the University of North Florida. I have shared this journey with very talented assistant coaches and worked with some great administrators who had the faith in me to build winning programs, both on and off the field. This team gave me my first win at the division I level earlier this year and my 250th career win today. I can't say enough about this group and their willingness to raise our program to a higher level. Great things are happening in our women's soccer program and I look forward to our continued success." - Head coach Eric Faulconer
