McGory Hits Home Run in Loss at Florida A&M

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Sophomore Kayla McGory blasted her first home run of the season, but it was not enough as North Florida softball dropped a 2-1 decision at Florida A&M on Thursday.

- The bases were kept quiet until Florida A&M plated two in the bottom of the fifth. A one-out triple put a runner on before a UNF miscue allowed her to come home on the next batter.
- With one at second and one out, a single down the line plated the game-winning run. The Ospreys ended any more scoring with a double play to end the inning.
- North Florida had its lone run scored on a solo shot from McGory in the seventh.Â
- UNF tried to make a late rally as it put two aboard with one out, but failed to convert as the Rattlers took the win.Â
- Sydney Matzko tossed the complete game with five hits, no walks and one strikeout in the loss.
- Kyaira Brown earned the win with five hits given up and seven strikeouts.
