Jacksonville, Fla. – Behind a four run first and five shutout innings from Cooper Bradford, the North Florida Baseball team picked up a 7-1 victory over Savannah State on Wednesday afternoon at Harmon Stadium.
LEADING OFF
- Cooper Bradford came on in relief in the fifth inning and allowed just three baserunners, while striking out five Tigers en route to his fourth win of the season.Â
- Bradford was the first Osprey since Wednesday's starter Nick Marchese to throw 5.0 shutout innings of relief. Marchese did it on March 24th vs FAMU.
- Bradford matched his season-high with five strikeouts.
- Chris Matthias in the opening inning hit his first colleigate homer to give the Ospreys a 4-0 lead.
- Jay Prather extended his reached base streak to a team-high 24 in a row with his seventh inning homer.Â
- Tanner Murphy and Chris Berry both extended their reached base streaks to 16 in a row.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Ospreys got out to a hot start as Voyles knocked a double to deep left center that scored a pair of runs.Â
- Two batters later, Matthias hit a two-run shot to left for his first career homer to give UNF a 4-0 lead after the opening frame.
- Savannah State got on the board in the third with an RBI single to make it 4-1.
- UNF added a run in the fifth on a Tiger wild pitch which allowed Berry to come into score and make it 5-1 Ospreys.
- In the seventh, Prather hit a solo shot to right that gave UNF a 6-1 advantage. In the next inning Prather added an RBI single to give the Ospreys a 7-1 win.Â
