Ospreys Pick Up Third Straight Win Over Radford

JACKSONVILLE – North Florida softball behind Navia Penrod's 4-for-4 day and Sydney Matzko's 10th complete game of the year picked up a 5-1 win over Radford on Wednesday at the UNF Softball Complex.

"I thought we played a solid all-around game tonight. We had runners in scoring position almost every inning and executed some successful sacrifice flies to add some insurance runs. Sydney threw well and fed the defense playable balls. Our runners did a good job stealing some bases to set us up on scoring plays. It is a good way to head into the weekend. - Junior Navia Penrod extended her hit-streak to 10 games going a perfect 4-for-4 on the day. Penrod had a double and also picked up a stolen base in the win.
- Kayla McGory and Tiffany Lower each added a pair of base hits.

- In the circle, Sydney Matzko tossed her 10th complete game of the season, while striking out two.

GAME CAPSULE
- Radford struck first in the top of third with a two-out RBI single giving the Highlanders a 1-0 lead.
- The Ospreys answered in the next half inning when Penrod hit a single to left field and moved up on a stolen base.
- Woodson then reached on a fielder's choice advancing Penrod to third before Cocuzza's sac fly brought home the tying run.
- North Florida added a pair of runs in the fourth with Lower coming around to score on a throwing error by the Highlanders' pitcher. Woodson added an RBI single to give UNF a 3-1 lead after four innings.
- A pair of sacrifice fly's from Woodson and Cocuzza in the sixth gave the Ospreys all the offense they would need in the 5-1 victory.
IN THE BOX SCORE
- It marked the first time in eight games that both the Ospreys and their opponents got on the scoreboard.
- It's the second time this season that Penrod has had a four-hit performance and first since the Ospreys 9-0 win over Providence during the opening weekend of the season.
- Matzko maintained her tie for first in the league with 10 complete games.
