Matzko Earns First Career ASUN Pitcher of the Week

LakePoint, Ga. -Â North Florida's Sydney Matzko grab her first career ASUN Softball weekly awards as announced by the league office on Monday.Â
"Sydney has come in and been an immediate impact to our program," said head coach Marcie Higgs. "The more she throws, the better she gets. It was a gutsy performance against Louisiana this weekend and to accomplish what she did in their home environment is just amazing."
Matzko delivered a consistent performance in the circle for the Ospreys with three wins last week in six appearances. She registered a 0.93 ERA and tossed 37.2 innings. Matzko struck out 27 batters and grabbed three shutouts, including against No. 15 Louisiana.Â
The junior transfer is now 5-4 on the year and has a 1.12 ERA with 53 strikeouts to rank second in the conference.
