LakePoint, Ga. - North Florida's Sydney Shrader put together an historic performance to earn her first career ASUN Conference Women's Golfer of the Week award, announced by the league office on Thursday. Shrader survived a five-hole playoff to claim the program's first-ever medalist honor.Â
Shrader combined for a tournament-best 14 birdies as she put together a career-low performance to win the Amelia Island Collegiate event. After an opening round 73, Shrader bounced back with a four-under par round of 68 to move up the leaderboard. She carded six birdies in the round, including a stretch of four-straight. In the final round, Shrader shot a one-under-par 71 to finish in a tie at the top of the leaderboard. Shrader then went on to win in a playoff to take home the Ospreys' first medalist honor. Her final 54-hole score of 212 is tied for the lowest in program history. The sophomore was excellent on Par 4s and Par 5s as she ranked first and second, respectively on those holes. Â
Her performance helped the Ospreys finish the event in third place as they opened their spring season. Shrader and her teammates are back in action this weekend as they participate in the Kiawah Island Classic on Feb. 25-27th.
