Ospreys Take Down Kennesaw State on the Road

KENNESAW, Ga. - North Florida women's basketball led from start to finish as it defeated Kennesaw State, 68-44, to mark 11 wins on the season which is the most under head coach Darrick Gibbs and the most ASUN victories since the 2012-13 season.

OPENING TIP
- Senior Tesh Hanson tossed in a game-high 17 points to go with five rebounds and three assists.
- Freshman Tiffany Tolbert recorded 15 points - her first double-figure performance since January 27 at Stetson. She also dished out three assists with two steals with no turnovers.
- After scoring just five points at Lipscomb, senior Keonna Farmer jumped back into double-digits with 12 points with eight rebounds.
- Sophomore Adrienne Jackson rounded out the double-digit performances with 10 points including two buckets from long range.
- The Ospreys held Kennesaw State to just 14 field goals which is a season-low in conference play and the least for an opponent since Webber (11/24/17).
GAME CAPSULE
First Half Trends
- North Florida jumped out to a 6-0 lead and did not look back for the half.
- Kennesaw State closed in at 6-4 on back-to-back buckets, but North Florida went on a 10-2 lead, capped by a triple from Jackson to lead 16-6 with 2:13 left in the first.
- The Owls tried to make a dent in the lead, but Tolbert hit a three-pointer as time expired for the 21-11 lead after one.
- It was a slow start in the second frame as the first basket was not scored until 7:21 by Hanson to take the biggest lead of the half, 23-11.
- KSU got to within seven three times in the second, the final on a three-pointer from Clara Young, but a pair of free throws for the Ospreys gave the visitors a 31-22 halftime lead.
Second Half Trends
- North Florida outscored the home team, 22-10, in the third stanza - allowing just one field goal. UNF went on to shoot a game-best 57 percent in the third.
- The Ospreys held the Owls off the board for the final 6:09 of the quarter to lead 53-32.
- Kennesaw State got as close as 19 early in the fourth, but it was all it mustered for the game.
- UNF capitalized on 13 Owl miscues as it scored 16 points off the turnovers in the second half.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
- The sweep of the Owls is the first since 2012 and the largest conference victory this season.
- Kennesaw State held a slight 41-38 edge off the glass, but UNF owned a 14-7 advantage in second chance points.
- The Ospreys limited the Owls to just two three-pointers for the game.
- Ty Purifoy recorded four assists and four steals on the night.
- Senior Maiya Rumph helped out on the defensive end of the floor with three blocks and seven rebounds.
