JACKSONVILLE - North Florida men's tennis players Dominik Barton and Till Von Winning as well as former Ospreys are heading to the ITF Futures Tournament in Pensacola, Fla., beginning on Saturday with qualifying rounds. Alum Julian Bradley is set to compete as well.
Barton is currently listed in the qualifying draw, while Von Winning is in the alternate list with a good chance to move to the qualifying bracket.Â
Last week, Von Winning and former Osprey Lasse Muscheites played in the 64-draw WC Tournament. Von Winning advanced to the quarterfinals, while Muscheites ended up as a finalist. With his finalist finish, Muscheites earned a spot in the main draw of the Futures Tournament.
"This is a testament to the guys we have on the team, as well as former Ospreys playing professionally," said head coach Matt Lucas. "We want to challenge our players, and what better way than professional tournaments. I want to build this program around student-athletes who have goals and aspirations to play professionally after earning their degree from UNF. With Jack (Findel-Hawkins), Julian and Lasse all out there playing, as well as Dominik bringing in professional ATP points, it shows the type tennis players UNF can attract. I am looking forward to watching all four of these Ospreys compete in Pensacola."
