
Men's Tennis Heads to Mercer's Gridiron Classic

MACON, Ga. – North Florida men's tennis returns to the court this week as it travels to Macon, Ga. to compete in the Mercer Gridiron Classic Friday through Sunday at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center. All eight players on the Ospreys' roster will make the journey to Macon.

Last Week:
- The Ospreys got off to a hot start at the Bedford Cup in Orlando, sweeping the doubles bracket the first day of the tournament.
- Sophomore Nilo Duarte advanced to the championship of the Singles Flight 2, but fell in straight sets.
- Till Von Winning earned a spot in the Consolation A championship match, but fell to Richard Thongoana of Florida State.
- Charley Castaing won the Flight 3 Consolation championship.
- Dominik Barton, Federico Nani and Castaing all made their debuts for the Ospreys
WHO'S COMPETING?
- More than 170 athletes from both men's and women's programs will compete in the tournament coming from 15 different colleges. On the men's side, the teams include: Troy, Jacksonville State, Georgia Southern, Kennesaw State, Alabama State, Georgia State, Florida Southern, North Georgia, Coastal Carolina and USC Upstate.
- The event features three singles draws (A, B, C) and two doubles draws (A, B). The tournament begins with singles action Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. followed by doubles play.
LOOKING AHEAD
- The Ospreys take a weekend off before traveling to the ITA Southeast Regionals in Athens, Ga. Oct. 19-21.
