Women's Tennis Opens up at ITA Regionals

ATLANTA - North Florida women's tennis opened ITA Southeast Regionals highlighted by a doubles win and Rafaela Gomez's advance in the main draw.

The day opened with doubles where Gomez and Constanza Gorches defeated a pair from Florida State, 8-5 to move on to the Round of 16 set for Saturday.

Gomez continued her winning ways during the singles main draw as she moved on to the round of 32 with a 6-1, 6-3 victory against Laura Vovk from Georgia State. She then picked up a victory in the next round to move on.

"Rafa has made some positive changes this year and it directly correlates how she played today," said head coach Mariana Cobra. "I am really happy for her and Cons to come in and beat the second-seed. I am excited to watch how both of them play tomorrow."

The other singles players will participate in the consolation bracket on Saturday.
