Ospreys Head to ITA Regionals

ATHENS, Ga. – The Ospreys head north this week as they compete in the ITA Southeast Regionals at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex beginning Friday.

North Florida comes off a successful tournament at the Mercer Gridiron Classic where it claimed the top singles and doubles honors titles. Two Ospreys battled in the Singles – Flight A title match, with Dominik Barton edging out Till Von Winning. The Doubles – Flight A championship saw the duo of Sahil Deshmukh and Jorge Nunez come out on top against North Georgia.

Traveling to compete in this weekend's action are seven athletes: Barton, Deshmukh, Nilo Duarte, Joe Ellis, Federico Nani, Nunez and Von Winning.

"The regional championships are another tremendous opportunity for the guys. We certainly know our region is probably the toughest in the country, and really embrace this challenge," said head coach Matt Lucas. "The first few tournaments have yielded some quality results, and have shown us where we are falling short. Hopefully we have corrected those mistakes and can execute our brand of tennis this weekend. With a spot at the National Fall Championships at stake we are excited to test ourselves and put it all together in Athens. SWOOP!"

The singles and doubles champions from each of the ITA Division I Regional Championships held across the country receive automatic entry into the 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships
