Cougars Halt Women's Soccer Win Streak
9/15/2017 9:29:00 PM | Women's Soccer
MT. PLEASANT, S.C.  – North Florida had its five-match win streak snapped at College of Charleston as the Cougars grabbed a 3-0 victory at Patriots Point on Friday evening.
Â
GOALS
COC: 3' - Rachel Kim (Laura Ortega)
COC: 23' - Alyssa Beck (Talia Colchico)
COC: 86' - Raymara Barreto (Unassisted)

HOW IT HAPPENED
CONFER'S CORNER
"Tonight was a tough one. I thought we played well at times, but some of our mistakes cost us. College of Charleston is a good team and battled us hard. We had some good momentum at the start of the second half and felt like one was going to fall for us, but unfortunately a red card made it difficult for us to get back in the game."
Â
NOTEABLES
- The five-match win streak is the program's longest since 2006.
- North Florida is now just one win away from matching last season's total and two victories from a record number under coach Robin Confer.
- Thais Reiss and Sarah Wasser each had three shots including two shots on goal.
- College of Charleston held a slight 7-6 edge in corner kicks.Â
Â
UP NEXT
The Ospreys return home to take on The Citadel in the final non-conference match of the year. Game time is set for 1 p.m. at Hodges Stadium.

Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The home team did not waste any time as CofC scored three minutes into the game when Rachel Kim knocked a header from a corner kick in for the 3-0 lead.
- Later in the half, the Cougars added to their lead when Alyssa Beck fired a shot from 25 yards out to the back of the net.Â
- North Florida turned on the attack taking back-to-back shot over the next three minutes, but came up empty.
- After taking nine shots each in the first half, College of Charleston continued to pressure in the second and eventually held a 6-4 edge in shots.
- Due to a UNF red card in the second frame, the Ospreys were playing a man down for more than 20 minutes to close the game.
- The hosts put another tally on the board when keeper Rhiannon Conelley made a stellar save on a shot from close range, but the ball popped out of her grip and back to the foot of Barreto where she sent it into the net for the 3-0 advantage.
- Despite the loss, Conelley made a season-high eight saves.
