The Short Story:Â The North Florida Track & Field team opened up competition in the NCAA East Preliminary on Thursday night at the Kentucky Outdoor Track & Field Complex in Lexington, Ky. UNF junior Eden Meyer finished 12th and advanced to the NCAA Finals in the 10,000m while fellow junior Tyler Stahl finished 30th in the 1500m.

THE FINISH LINE
- Appearing in her second career NCAA East Preliminary, Eden Meyer ran a 33:59.39 to claim the 12th and final qualifying spot for the NCAA Championships in the 10,000m... Meyer becomes just the third UNF track athlete to qualify for the NCAA Finals and the first since 2012 (Brianna Frazier - 400m)... The NCAA Championship will be run June 6-10 in Eugene, Ore.
- Tyler Stahl, competing in his first NCAA East Preliminary, clocked a time of 3:51.80 in finishing 30th overall in the 1500m... Stahl finished ninth in his heat and was less than a second shy of posting an advancing time in the event.
UP NEXT:
North Florida has another pair of performers set to compete in Day 2 action on Friday in Lexington. Alyssa Young is scheduled to participate in the high jump while Fynn Timm will run in the 3000m Steeplechase.

"It was so exciting to see Eden punch her ticket to Oregon tonight. She led a chase pack for 20 laps and then fell back to 13th. She didn't give up and finished strong to earn 12th place. Her work and dedication continues to bring her to new athletic levels. I am so proud of her. Running in his first NCAA Regional, Tyler ran a very nice race. He represented himself very well finishing 30th out of 48 runners. Tyler closed out his junior season having dropped his 1500m time by four seconds. He had a great year and we are both already looking forward to next year." -- Head coach Jeff Pigg
