SAY WHAT...
"I am proud of the team's efforts. There are so many events that we were not able do and sometimes it makes it hard to rally the team for these championship events. Â
To their credit,  they all came to play and they competed hard. I am very proud of both team's performances.
"Senior Brad Hort capped of his UNF career with a runner-up finish in the 5000m.  Hort, who won the 10K last night, has run many, many miles here at UNF to prepare him for this tough double and all that work paid off in this meet. He ran with such strength and he would not be denied a very successful final ASUN meet. Junior Tyler Stahl followed closely with a 3rd place finish in the event, while freshman Noah Perkins, who also ran the 10K, closed out his outstanding freshman campaign with a 6th place finish. Â
"In the 1500m,  Tyler Stahl ran a very good race to place second. He ran a very brave race and was just caught in the last few meters. Stahl has had a very good year and will have another chance in the 1500m when he lines up in the East Regional in two weeks. Fynn Timm also ran a very good 1500m, finishing 3rd. Fynn just keeps getting better and has had a very consistent year. He will also look to continue his success in a couple weeks as the East Regional. Fynn has improved greatly this year and still has some great races ahead of him.
"Desmond Robb had a season best in the 400m, finishing 2nd with a very good run of 47.79.  Desmond has done a tremendous job  for us here at UNF and will surely be missed. He is a great competitor that kept us on the map in the 400.  Freshman George Escobar finished 6th in the event after running a very good race as well. Desmond also added a 4th place finish in the 200m, running a season best time.
"In the 800m, Chris Robin placed 4th by running a lifetime best of 1:52 and was followed across the finish line by teammates  Rayford James in 5th and Cristian Acuna 6th.
"Chris Robin, George Escobar, Cristian Acuna and Desmond Robb all ran both the 4x100m and 4x400m relays, coming home 4th and 3rd in some very exciting races. These guys just kept lining up and competing hard." -- Head coach Jeff Pigg
