The Short Story:Â The North Florida baseball team saw its offense limited to just four hits and a single run by a trio of Lipscomb pitchers in an 8-1 loss Sunday in the series finale. Despite the loss, UNF claimed its second straight ASUN weekend series victory after taking the first two games.
LEADING OFFÂ
- The Ospreys only mustered four hits on the day including a team high two by Patrick Ervin... The four hits were the second fewest in a game this season
- UNF held to just a single run for only the third game this season
- Chris Thibideau (22), Chris Berry (21) and Alex Merritt (13) all had their double-digit on base streaks in the contest halted
- With his two hits, Patrick Ervin owns the team's longest current hit streak of 7 games... Wesley Weeks, who accounted for one of the team's other two hits in the game, also has hit safely in 7 games... Christian Diaz tallied the Osprey's only other hit
- Lipscomb's reilef duo of Nicko Ortega and Denton Norman surrendered just one hit to the Ospreys over the final 3.2 innings
- The loss snapped UNF's five-game win streak versus the Bisons
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
- For the first time all weekend, Lipscomb got on the board first with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second. Hunter Hanks notched a one-out double and then scored when Jake Perry's single into right field was misplayed allowing him to race home and Perry to reach third. Blake Thomas followed with an RBI single scoring Perry.
- Lipscomb would open up a bigger lead with a 4-run outburst in the fourth. Cade Sorrells opened the frame with a double and moved to third on a long flyout by Zeke Dodson. Hanks would single to drive in Sorrells. After the Ospreys recorded the second out in the inning, the Bisons got back-to-back singles, an infield error and a two-RBI double to account for the scoring.
- The Ospreys would tally their lone run in the top of the sixth as Christian Diaz led off with a double down the left field line and moved to third on a groundout before Ervin singled him home.
- The Bisons closed the scoring with a pair of runs in the 8th.Â
