Ospreys Top Mercer, Fall to FGCU in ASUN Semifinals

DeLAND, Fla. - North Florida beach volleyball opened the day with a dominating 5-0 win against No. 2 Mercer to advance to the semifinals before dropping a 3-2 decision to FGCUÂ at the ASUNÂ Championship on Sunday.
BEACH BULLETS
- No. 4 North Florida came into the day with a shutout of No. 2 Mercer when the top pair for the Ospreys clinched the match.
- Katarina Raicevic and Courtney Miller won both No. 1 matches in straight sets.
- Against FGCU in the semifinal, it came down to the third set in the No. 2 position - similar to last season's ASUN championship match. This season, however, it went in the direction of the opponent as FGCU won 15-9.
- Shannon McPherson and Nicole DeBolt grabbed two wins on the day including a three-set battle against Mercer. The pair finish the season with a 17-9 mark.
- Raicevic, McPherson, Kimberly Ferguson, Lauren Gainer and Carina Hoff finish their beach careers at UNF with 67 victories, an ASUNÂ tournament title and three regular season titles.
