The short story:Â The North Florida men's golf team sits in a tie for seventh after carding rounds of 293-295 on the opening day of play in the General Hackler Championship at The Dunes Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

FIRST TEE
- Philip Knowles continued his strong spring season finishing the opening day as the squad's top performer ranked tied for 19th at 146 (+2)... Knowles started the day with a 1-under 71 and posted a 75 in the afternoon round
- Freshman Michael Mattiace, playing in the event as an individual, matched Knowles' 36-hole performance finishing with rounds of 72-74
- Travis Trace and Osten Waite ended the day tied for 28th at 147 with both players posting scores of 73 and 74 in their two rounds
- Dillon Woods (148) and Andrew Alligood (151) rounded out the Osprey lineup, ranking tied for 40th and 54th, respectively
