The short story:Â The North Florida men's golf team opened play in the Schenkel Invitational with a two-over 290 at Forest Heights Country Club on Friday. Sophomore Philip Knowles continued his strong play for the Ospreys shooting a 2-under 70 to lead the way.

FIRST TEE
- Philip Knowles was the squad's top performer finishing with a 2-under 70 and putting him in a tie for 16th in the medalist competition
- Sophomore Travis Trace and junior Dillon Woods ended the day tied for 29th following rounds of even-par 72
- Sophomore Andrew Alligood and senior Osten Waite both tallied rounds of 76 to round out the Osprey lineup
- Freshman Michael Mattiace, playing as an individual, shot a first round 78 to rank in a tie for 70th
- The Ospreys concluded day one in 11th place, just four shots out of the Top 10
