Three Double-Digit Performers Power UNF Past Edward Waters

JACKSONVILLE - It was a similar story to the day before as a second half surge, propelled by junior Arianna Emanuel-Wright, gave North Florida women's basketball a 73-47 victory against Edward Waters on Wednesday afternoon.

The Short Story: Emanuel-Wright topped her 19-point performance against Northern Kentucky with a 20-point outing against the Tigers, while two others scored in double figure to push a sluggish Osprey team to a stellar finish in the second half.

OPENING TIP
  • Emanuel-Wright came off the bench with 20 points, seven rebounds and two steals. She hit a season-high three treys to lead the Ospreys in scoring for the first time this season.
  • Seniors Keonna Farmer and Maiya Rumph each recorded a double-double. Farmer tallied 16 points and 13 rebounds, while Rumph had 14 points, 11 rebounds, two assists and a steal.
  • North Florida shot a season-best 49 percent from the field and second-best from long range with a 54 percent clip.
  • For the second time this season, UNF recorded 16 assists with Ty Purifoy tying a season-high with seven helpers.

  • It was a tight first quarter, but Edward Waters held the slight 15-14 edge after one.
  • The teams played evenly in the second frame with visitors taking a 32-31 lead into the break. 
  • UNF struggled with ball control, recording 15 of its 19 turnovers in the first half.

Second Half Trends
  • In the second half, the teams traded points and with the score knotted at 40, freshman Elli Bartley hit her second triple of the game to spark a 16-2 run. 
  • North Florida allowed the Tigers to score just 15 second half points as it continued to stretch its lead to 20 in the fourth.
  • UNF held Edward Waters to just one field goal in the final quarter as the Ospreys outscored the visitors, 17-5, to close out the game.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
  • Bartley recorded her first points of the season with her two three-point baskets.
  • UNF owned a 47-21 edge off the glass with 15 offensive boards leading to 10 second chance points.
  • The Ospreys  went 11-for-12 from the line for a season-high 91 percent.
