Strong Fourth Quarter Pushes Ospreys Past Morehead

MOREHEAD, Ky. - North Florida women's basketball outscored Morehead State, 23-10, in the final quarter en route to a 61-56 win at Johnson Arena on Friday evening.Â

- Sophomore Adrienne Jackson had another stellar game as she filled the stat sheet with 13 points, seven rebounds and four steals.
- Freshman Tiffany Tolbert also had a team-best 13 points, while also recording two assists and two steals. It's the second straight game that the Orlando, Fla. native reached double figures as she scored 11 against Warner on Monday.
- In her first game of the season, Tesh Hanson grabbed a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds to go with three steals and two blocks.
- Junior Ty Purifoy wrapped up the double-digit performances with 11 points, while also dishing out four helpers.

First Half Trends
- Morehead raced out to a 9-3 lead before the Ospreys chipped away at the advantage to tie the game at 11.Â
- A Jackson jumper put North Florida out front for the remainder of the opening half.
- After two quick baskets to open the second quarter, both offenses stalled for more than two minutes.
- The Eagles eventually got to within 26-23 on a lay in from Eriel McKee with less than three minutes left in the half.
- Jackson and Hanson hit back-to-back baskets down the stretch before McKee hit another bucket to make it a UNF lead, 30-25, at the break.
- The Ospreys shot 50 percent in the opening quarter before staggering to 28.6 percent. On the flip side, the UNF defense held Morehead to a 22.2 percent clip from the floor.
Second Half Trends
- Morehead State came out of the break and hit back-to-back three pointers and did not look back as the Eagles outscored UNF, 21-8, in the third quarter.
- The Ospreys were not ready to go down without and fight and they proved it in the final quarter.
- A Hanson three-pointer sparked a 6-2 run to bring the Ospreys to within 48-47 before Morehead responded with a 5-0 stretch of its own to hold a 53-37 lead with 5:32 to play.
- Hanson once again started a run for UNF as the Ospreys outscored the home team, 10-2, in the final five minutes to grab the win.
- North Florida did not allow Morehead to record a field goal in the final 3:45 minutes of the game.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
- North Florida shot 50 percent or better in the first and fourth quarters, but struggled in the second and third with less than 30 percent in both frames.
- Morehead shot just 31 percent from the floor and just 26.7 percent from long range.
- The Ospreys forced 21 turnovers leading to 19 points.
- Erin Blaine led the Eagles with 15 points, while three others scored 12.
