THOUGHTS FROM COACH PIGG...
"It was a great day for the women's cross country program. It was a very exciting day and extremely close race. It was very tense waiting for the final race results to be announced. It was so thrilling to the get the victory because these girls are very close and such a great group of young ladies and that makes the championship even sweeter. I really love the culture of this team and the girls on the squad. Eden again led the team and continued to perform well at the ASUNÂ Championship. She does things right, working hard and living clean. I'm very proud of how well she ran today and I look forward to watching her compete throughout the remainder of her senior season. It is an inspiration to our team because of her dedication and front running efforts. Claudia had a very strong run in her first conference championship race. Her practices have been going well and it was great to see that translate to a very strong finish today. Grace ran an extremely inspiring race, as she has been hurt for much of the season but would not be denied the opportunity of competing in her final ASUN Championship. Over the past 10 days, she began to feel much better and looked hopeful of being able to compete. Not only did she compete today but ran a fabulous race. Audrey continues to make great strides in her running career and today was no exception. I knew she was going to run well today and she did not let us down. She has worked hard so it was nice to see her work result in improvements during the race. Skye ran the best cross country race of her life today and it came at a perfect time because we really needed her time to claim the championship. She has progressed very well through the season and her time today was a testament to the improvement and effort. I was also pleased with the runs by our freshmen, Ciara Golliher, who ran a personal best and Hannah Evans."
On being named Coach of the Year:
"It has been a pleasure working with this group. Their leadership and culture made the job easy and rewarding. I want to dedicate this title and award to my sister, Stacey Martin, who is the toughest girl I know and has been battling through some extremely tough times the last few weeks."
