Women’s Cross Country Clocks Five In Top-25, Places Fourth At Queens City Invite

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida Women's Cross Country placed fourth in the Women's 5K at the Queens City Invite at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, N.C. on Friday night.

The Ospreys totaled 88 points to finish fourth in the 29-team field and trailed only Elon, Charlotte and Marshall.

"The younger women on the team competed well. We had a few good performances individually. Viktoria, in her first race, had a strong finish that was super impressive," said associate head coach Tyler Stahl. "Annika backed it up with another solid performance. Katelyn and Sophia continue to impress as freshman , while Lilly and Maddie did a solid job as well in their season debuts."

Freshman Viktoria Kamml made her collegiate debut and paced all Ospreys with a 13th-place time of 18:05.4. Senior Annika Buser followed in 15th at 18:10.0. Freshman Katelyn O'Brien continued her impressive start to her collegiate career with a 21st-place time of 18:21.1.

Junior Madeline Castillo made her season debut with a time of 18:23.4 for 22nd-place. Freshman Sophia Aldridge rounded out five Ospreys in the top-25 of the individual standings with a 25th-place finish at 18:27.1.

Junior Cohen Kooker finished 28th with a time of 18:39.6, while junior Lilly Schuster made her season debut with a 31st-place finish at 18:44.4. Senior Mei Chiang finished 34th with a time of 18:48.2.

Junior Sofia Skidmore finished 46th with a time of 19:19.3, while freshman Isabella Heideman followed in 47th at 19:21.5.

Junior Brooke Yates rounded out the top-50 with a time of 19:23.9, while freshman Kylie Stapor placed 52nd at 19:32.0.

"We have a good, young, strong core," Stahl said. "We were hoping for a better finish, but in the end, it was a good growing experience for us."
