BRASELTON, Ga. -- Freshman Philip Knowles was the lone Osprey under-par Sunday in opening round action of the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship at Chateau Elan Legends Course. UNF wrapped up the first day in third-place after a round of 2-over par 290.

Knowles is tied for sixth in the individual competition following his 1-under 71 on Sunday that included three birdies and 13 pars. Fellow freshman Andrew Alligood opened the day with back-to-back birdies en route to finishing with an even-par 72, sitting in 11th-place.
"We left too many shots out on the course today," said head coach Scott Schroeder. "We didn't play the par 5s nearly good enough and we also struggled with our putting. The good news is we are still in the hunt if we put together good rounds the next two days. The guys will rest up tonight and get back at it tomorrow."
Sophomore Dillon Woods (73) and senior Taylor Hancock (74) joined their freshman teammates in the Top 20, ending the day tied for 12th and 16th, respectively. Freshman Travis Trace rounded out the Osprey lineup in 33rd after his opening round 82.

Kennesaw State collected 22 birdies as a team and jumped to the top of the leaderboard with a 5-under 283 on Sunday. Lipscomb sits in second at 289, one shot ahead of UNF. Florida Gulf Coast and Jacksonville are tied for fourth at 294 followed by USC Upstate (301) and Stetson (308). KSU's Wyatt Larkin heads up the medalist leaderboard after firing a 3-under 69.
Tournament action continues with Monday's second round slated to start at 8:30 a.m. North Florida tees off at 10 a.m. from the first hole alongside Kennesaw State and Lipscomb. Live scoring results for the event are available online at Golfstat.com.
