
Dawson Leads @OspreyWGolf on Opening Day of UNF Collegiate

JACKSONVILLE -- The North Florida women's golf team opened play in their home event Monday carding rounds of 305-307 to end the day in ninth place of the UNF Collegiate held at Jacksonville Golf and Country Club.
The Ospreys posted a 36-hole total of 612 and were led by senior Mary Dawson, who fired rounds of 74-71 to end the day tied for third at 1-over 145. Fellow senior Kelly Aylwin joined Dawson in the Top 20 concluding the day tied for 17th after rounds of 74-76=150.
The remainder of UNF's lineup included junior Nathalie Nygren in a tie for 58th (76-81=157), senior Emelie Alpe in 72nd (81-79=160) and senior Belinda George in a tie for 89th (82-85=167).

No. 25-ranked Texas and No. 36-ranked Houston share the top spot in the team competition with matching two-round totals of 590. The Longhorns and Cougars both collected rounds of 293-297 on the opening day. The College of Charleston is third at 597 while Campell (600) and Eastern Kentucky (605) rounded out the Top 5. James Madison's Laura Gomez and Sophia Schubert of Texas are tied for the medalist lead.
Tournament action at the UNF Collegiate concludes with a final round of 18 holes on Tuesday. North Florida will play alongside Chattanooga and Delaware beginning on holes 7-9. The event is free and open to the public with live scoring available online at Golfstat.com.
