Beach @OspreyVB Cruises to Two Victories at Carolina Classic

COLUMBIA, S.C. - North Florida beach volleyball cruised to two victories against Jacksonville State and Louisiana Monroe on the first day of the Carolina Classic at the University of South Carolina's Wheeler Beach on Saturday. The Ospreys grabbed a 5-0 victory against the Gamecocks before taking down ULM, 4-1, in the second match of the day.

The Ospreys grabbed wins in both matches at the No. 2-5 matches, while also earning an exhibition match against Louisiana Monroe. At the No. 2 courts, Lauren Ford and Kimberly Ferguson grabbed a two-set, 21-6, -6 win against Jacksonville State before taking down the Warhawks in a tightly-contested three-set match, 16-21, 22-20, 16-14.

For the remainder of the UNF squad, there were two-set wins across the board. At the No. 3 court, Katarina Raicevic and Courtney Miller paired up for a 21-10, -7 win against Jacksonville State before responding with a 21-9, -14 win in the second match.

Senior Ambre Desaulnay and freshman Chaney Howard extended their winning streak to seven matches with a 21-9, -8 and 21-11, -9 win at the No. 4 court. Closing out the victories for UNF was Carina Hoff and Shannon McPherson at the No. 5 spot. The pair took down the Gamecocks, 21-7, 10 and then followed with the Warhawks, 21-11, -9 in the afternoon.

North Florida's competition gets a little more difficult on day two as the Ospreys take on FAU and host South Carolina beginning at 11 a.m.
