Alpe Leads @OspreyWGolf To Top 10 Finish at Kiawah Island Classic

Senior shoots even par final round en route to Top 20 individual showing

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- Playing in the largest collegiate golf tournament in the country, the North Florida women's golf team tied for 10th following a final round 299 on Tuesday in the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic held on the Osprey Point Golf Course of Kiawah Island Golf Resort.
The Ospreys finished the 54-hole event with a total of 905, tying Iowa in the 41-team field. Senior Emelie Alpe led the way for UNF firing an even-par 72 on the final round and earning at tie for 18th (222) in a field of 216 individual players. Fellow senior Mary Dawson also had a solid final round, shooting a 1-over 73 to finish tied for 42nd at 227.
Megan Wilshire finished tied for 63rd (229) after a round of 78, while Lauren Coe ended the event with round of 76 to finish tied for 79th (231). Nathalie Nygren rounded out the Osprey lineup with a final round 79, finishing tied for 101st (234).

In the team competition, Coastal Carolina claimed the title by eight shots after finishing the three-day event with a score of 871. Chattanooga was second at 879 followed by tournament host College of Charleston (884), Old Dominion (889), Elon (896), Mercer (898), East Tennessee State (898), Troy (902) and Delaware (902) joining the Ospreys in the Top 10. Chattanooga's Emily McLennan and Troy's Fatima Cano shared the individual medalist crown with matching scores of 6-under 210.
North Florida will have a quick turnaround as the Ospreys next host their own event, the UNF Collegiate, on Mar. 7-8 at Jacksonville Golf and Country Club.
