
Women's Golf Climbs Four Spots in Final Round of Palmetto Intercollegiate

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- The North Florida women's golf team posted the second best final round score, 296, Tuesday vaulting four spots to finish 11th in the Palmetto Intercollegiate at Turtle Point Golf Course.
Freshman Sydney Shrader led the final round surge firing a career best round of even-par 72. Seniors Megan Wilshire and Nathalie Nygren bolstered the climb up the leaderboard as both players carded rounds of 2-over 74. Fellow Freshman Teresa Conroy added a 76 (+4) with junior Courtney Cobb rounding out the lineup with a 78 (+6).
Wilshire was the squad's top finisher earning a tie for 37th at 227 followed by Nygren in a tie for 44th (229). In addition to her career low round, Shrader also notched her best collegiate finish (T50th) and tournament total (231). Conroy finished tied for 61st (235) and Cobb was tied for 88th (245).

In the team competition, Campbell used the low round of the day (293) to slip past Coastal Carolina for the team title with a 54-hole total of 879. CCU was second at 881 with College of Charleston (883), Ole Miss (888) and Kennesaw State (894) filling out the Top 5.
The Palmetto Intercollegiate marked the final fall tournament for North Florida, who will take almost three months off from competition before returning to action at the Florida Challenge on Jan. 30.Â
Notable:
