
Sophomore Duo Pushes Men's Golf to 4th after Opening Day at Quail Valley

VERO BEACH, Fla. -- Sophomores Philip Knowles and Andrew Alligood are both among the Top 10 individuals, while the No. 37-ranked North Florida men's golf team is fourth after opening day play Monday of the Quail Valley Intercollegiate.
Knowles is currently in third place in medalist play following rounds of 67-68 for a 9-under 135 total. Alligood also collected back-to-back rounds under par shooting 69-70 to finish tied for 6th at 139 (-5).
The rest of the Osprey lineup also enjoyed solid play during the 36-hole day of play as junior Dillon Woods is tied for 28th at even par 144 (70-74), while sophomore Travis Trace is 43rd (74-72=146) and senior Osten Waite is 53rd (74-74=148) to round out the UNF lineup.

No. 43-ranked Michigan State tops the team leaderboard with a two- round 561, one shot ahead of Jacksonville (562). No. 38 Arkansas is third at 563 followed by UNF and No. 22 Liberty (568) in the Top 5. MTSU's Ilari Saulo leads the medalist competition at 12-under 132 (67-65).
Tournament action concludes with a final round Tuesday beginning with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m. Live scoring is available online at Golfstat.com.
