@OspreyWGolf Finishes 3rd at JU Classic

PONTE VEDRA, Fla. -- The North Florida women's golf team matched the low score of the final round, 296, en route to claiming a third-place finish Tuesday in the JU Classic at Marsh Landing Country Club (par 72 / 5,987 yards).
Senior Emelie Alpe led a trio of UNF golfers finishing in the Top 20, firing a final round 1-under 71 to finish tied for sixth at even-par 216. Junior Lauren Coe and senior Mary Dawson both carded rounds of 74 (+2) Tuesday to finish tied for 11th (219) and tied for 18th (221), respectively.
Senior Kelly Aylwin finished 46th at 229 after a final round 77, while fellow senior Belinda George rounded out the UNF lineup in a tie for 55th at 232. Juniors Nathalie Nygren and Courtney Cobb were the top finishing unattached individuals in the event, as Nygren was tied for eighth at 217 after a final round 71 and Cobb (74) tied for 22nd at 223 in her debut for the Ospreys.


As a team, the Ospreys posted a program record three-round total of 880 highlighted by Monday's opening round even-par 288, the second lowest single round score in program history. Florida State led the 14-team competition wire-to-wire finishing the 54-hole event at 11-under 853. Rollins was second at 877, three shots in front of UNF, with Daytona State (884) and Stetson (885) rounding out the Top 5. FSU's Matilda Castren claimed the medalist honor with a tournament total of 212 (-4).
North Florida will take a few weeks off from competition before returning to action Oct. 12-13 for the Pinehurst Challenge at Pinehurst Country Club, Course No. 1 in Pinehurst, N.C.
