Career Bests Spark @OspreyWGolf at JU Classic

PONTE VEDRA, Fla. -- The North Florida women's golf team sits in fourth place after opening day rounds of 288 (E) and 296 in the JU Classic at Marsh Landing Country Club (par 72 / 5987 yards).
The Ospreys, who own a 36-hole total of 584, were led by junior Lauren Coe and senior Emelie Alpe. The UNF duo both carded two round totals of 145 to end the day tied for 12th. Coe shot an opening round 74 (+2) before closing the day with a career best 1-under 71 in the afternoon, while Alpe started the day with a 71 followed by a 74.
Seniors Mary Dawson and Belinda George also finished the day among the Top 20 earning a tie for 18th at 147. Dawson carded rounds of 71-76 and George added scores of 72-75. Senior Kelly Aylwin rounded out the Osprey lineup tied for 47th at 152 (74-78).Â

In addition to the travel squad, a pair of UNF linksters competed in the event as individuals with junior Nathalie Nygren tied for 16th at 146 and junior newcomer Courtney Cobb tied for 33rd at 149. Nygren fired an opening round 76 before closing the day with a career best 2-under 70. Cobb, making her debut for the Ospreys, finished with rounds of 74-75.
Florida State dominated the 14-team competition shooting a 36-hole total of 19-under 557. Rollins College is second at 577 with Daytona State (580), UNF and Wofford (587) filling out the Top 5 squads.
Tournament action at the JU Classic concludes with a final round Tuesday. North Florida will be paired with Wofford and Houston Baptist for the shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The Ospreys will begin play on Holes 5-7. The JU Classic is open to the public with free admission and live results online at Golfstat.com.
