IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The North Florida women's golf team climbed two spots to finish tied for sixth after carding a final round 308 Sunday in the Diane Thomason Invitational at Finkbine Golf Course (par 72 / 6,153 yards).
The Ospreys narrowly missed a Top 5 finish in their season debut tallying a 54-hole total of 923 to match the score of Wichita State. Junior Nathalie Nygren fired the low round of the day with a 75 (+3), while senior Emelie Alpe used a final round 78 to earn a team leading finish, tied for 18th (229).
Fellow senior Kelly Aylwin also finished in the Top 25, placing tied for 21st (231) after a final round 78. Junior Megan Wilshire finished tied for 34th (234) including a round of 79 on Sunday with senior Mary Dawson carding her best round of the season, 77, to finish tied for 52nd (240) in rounding out the UNF lineup. Junior Lauren Coe also competed as an individual in the tournament finishing tied for 60th (244) with a final round 77.

Tournament host Iowa led wire-to-wire in the team competition, claiming the championship with a three-round total of 888. Rutgers was second at 906 with Delaware (907), Harvard (908) and South Dakota State (921) filling out the Top 5 finishers. The Hawkeye's Jessica Ip earned the individual medalist title with a tournament total of 212 (-4).
North Florida will have a few weeks off from competition before returning to tournament play Sept. 28-29 in the Jacksonville Classic at Marsh Landing Country Club.
