JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The baseball version of the River City Rumble will take place at Harmon Stadium beginning Friday as the Ospreys host cross-town rival Jacksonville University in a three-game series. This weekend's battle will have some extra juice as Head Coach Smoke Laval will aim for his 600th career win.

Midweek Wrap Up: The Ospreys exploded for 13 runs, including nine in the first two trips to the plate in a 13-3 win over Florida A&M on Tuesday night. Junior Corbin Olmstead hit a pair of home runs and tied a career best with six RBIs. Freshman Zach Drury pitched the first four innings, holding the Rattlers hitless while striking out five. Reliever John Suskauer held the no-hitter for another inning and a third before surrendering the first hit in the top of the sixth.
Sitting on 599: North Florida Head Coach Smoke Laval has 599 career wins coming into Friday night's game. A Jacksonville University graduate, Laval is in his fifth season at the helm of the Ospreys after coaching stops at LSU (five seasons) and the University of Louisiana-Monroe (seven seasons). Laval is North Florida's Division I leader in wins with 149 and led the Ospreys to a D-1 best, 40 wins in 2013.
2015 Mayor's Cup: This will be the second time the Dolphins and Ospreys have met this season. Back on Mar. 18 the Ospreys held on to a 3-2 victory at John Sessions Field to capture the first ever Mayor's Cup. Sunday's scheduled starter, Matt Vaka pitched 4.2 scoreless innings and Corbin Olmstead recorded a six-out save.
A-Sun Rankings: As a team the Ospreys lead the Atlantic Sun in nine different categories: batting average (.303), runs (300), hits (423), triples (14), home runs (37), slugging percentage (.456), ERA (3.95), fielding percentage (.983) and double plays (42).
300-run Mark: The Ospreys scored their 300th run of the year in the win over Florida A&M on Tuesday. Ranked second in the country in runs, North Florida is one of two teams (Jackson State-316) to score 300 or more runs this season. Last season was the only year in the D-1 era that the Osprey did not score 300 runs.
Speed vs. Speed: This weekend's series includes the A-Sun's top two base stealers, Donnie Dewees and Angelo Amendolare who are both tied for the league-lead with 17.
Happy at Harmon: On Monday, the Ospreys improved to 19-5 at home, which is the second highest win total at home in the D-1 era (2006-present).
River City Rumble History: Historically, Jacksonville has enjoyed much of the success in a rivalry that began in 1988. The Dolphins are 32-21 against the Ospreys including a 18-8 record at Harmon Stadium. Against his alma mater, Head Coach Smoke Laval is 8-6 since taking over the program in 2011.
Scouting Jacksonville: Friday night's starting pitcher, Michael Baumann has taken the A-Sun by storm in his first season of collegiate baseball. He sports a 4-0 record and leads the league-low, 2.13 ERA. The Dolphins lost two out of three against FGCU last weekend in Fort Myers. A 16-0 win over Bethune-Cookman in the midweek bumped their overall record to 17-19 on the season. Jacksonville is second to to North Florida in team batting average and led by Amendolare who is hitting .376 on the year.
