ORLANDO, Fla. – University of North Florida women's tennis extended its winning streak to seven matches on Tuesday with a 5-2 victory over Furman in a neutral-site match at the UCF Tennis Complex.

"I'm proud of how we competed today," said head coach Audra Cohen. "The girls all maintained focus on their courts and showed determination from start to finish. Esther [Zuniga] came back in her match and beat a solid opponent. Quetzali [Vazquez] is playing great and her hard work is paying off."

UNF won both doubles matches in order to gain a 1-0 advantage in the match. Luise Intert and Rebeca Pereira claimed a 6-3 No. 2 doubles win over Blair Martin and Joan van Lochem. Quetzali Vazquez and Esther Zuniga earned their fourth-straight victory with a 6-0 shutout of Karlee Bryde and Harper Caswell at No. 3 doubles.

The Ospreys captured four of the six singles matches. Zuniga fought back from being down 4-1 in the second set to claim a 6-2, 6-4 No. 2 singles victory against Alex Moreno-Kaste. Michelle Valdez added a 6-1, 7-5 triumph over Martin on the No. 3 court. Vazquez cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 No. 5 singles win over Caswell. Rebeca Pereira downed van Lochem 6-2, 7-5 at the No. 6 position.

Furman earned points at No. 1 and No. 4 singles. Ansley Speaks defeated Hollander 6-1, 7-6 (8) at No. 1 singles, while Bryde took the No. 4 court after Marina Cunningham retired.

UNF is back at home on Wednesday with a match against George Washington. Match time is set for 2 p.m., at the UNF Tennis Complex. Admission is free to all UNF home matches.
