@OspreyMGolf Stay In Hunt for Title at The Hayt

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- The No. 29-ranked North Florida men's golf team carded a round of even-par 288 despite battling blustery winds and constant rain throughout the day on Saturday in day two action of The Hayt hosted by Sawgrass Country Club.
The Ospreys are in second-place with a 36-hole total of 584. No. 8 Texas had the round of the day shooting an 8-under par 280 to move in front of UNF by three strokes at 581.
Redshirt freshman Dillon Woods, a Jacksonville native, was UNF's top performer on Saturday carding a 3-under 69 to move into second place in the medalist competition with a two-round total of 1-under 143. Senior Joey Petronio also posted a 2-under 70 to finish the day in fourth at 146 (+2).
Junior Taylor Hancock is currently tied for fifth at 147 after a 75 on Saturday while fellow junior Austin Padova is also ranked in the Top 10, with his second round 74 giving him a tournament total of 148 (T9th). Senior Parker Jones rounded out the group of Osprey team members in a tied for 45th at 154.
"We had some great playing by the guys again today," said head coach Scott Schroeder. "We did a great job of backing up yesterday's solid round. Dillon played his best round for us in a big spot. We are battling one of the best team's in the country tomorrow in Texas, so it will be a great opportunity to compete for a title."
In addition to the five members of the UNF team squad, a trio of Ospreys are competing in the event as individuals including Joe Stepnes tied for 28th (151), Osten Waite tied for 55th (156) and Jordan Batchelor in 82nd (165).
Longhorn sophomore standout Beau Hossler moved to the top of medalist standings after a 6-under 66 on Saturday, highlighted by going 5-under over the back nine. Hossler's performance has him at 2-under 142 in the tournament, one shot in front of Woods.
In the team standings, No. 26 Oklahoma State and No. 16 UCLA are tied for third at 595, 11 shots behind UNF, with No. 18 Alabama rounding out the top five at 602.
Tournament action at The Hayt concludes with a final round of play starting at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday. The Ospreys will play alongside Texas and Oklahoma State starting at 9 a.m. from the first hole.
