AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. -- Following a record setting opening day performance, the North Florida women's golf team couldn't defeat Mother Nature as consistent rains caused the final round of the Amelia Island Collegiate at Amelia National Golf Club to be cancelled on Tuesday.
The Ospreys had only gotten through four to six holes of play in the final round before the event was called. UNF earns a runner up finish after posting rounds of 297-286=583 on Monday.
A quartet of UNF golfers finished in the Top 20 of the event led by junior Mary Dawson in a tie for seventh. Junior Kelly Aylwin joined Dawson in the Top 10 finishing tied for 9th while Emelie Alpe (12th) and Lauren Coe (18th) rounded out the list of top Osprey performers.
The event featured several program best performances as UNF's second round 2-under 286 matched the program single round low. In addition, Alpe carded the program's first round in the 60s with a 3-under 69 in Monday's afternoon session.
Several Ospreys also recorded personal bests including Dawson's 1-under 71 along with career low matching rounds by Aylwin (71), Coe (73) and Belinda George (72).
North Florida continues a busy week as they return to action starting Sunday at the Kiawah Island Classic.
