DAYTON, Ohio-- The North Florida basketball team closes out a stretch of six of last seven games on the road with a match-up against the Dayton Flyers in UD Arena, the site of the program's historic debut in the NCAA Tournament this past March. The game is slated to tip-off at 2 p.m. on Fox Sports Ohio.
The Ospreys are 6-3 on the season following a 119-108 loss on Wednesday at LSU. The 108 points were the second highest total in UNF's Division I era and included a school record 19 three-pointers. Beau Beech and Dallas Moore each scored 31 points for the Ospreys, with the total a career best for Beech and marking a second 30-plus effort in Moore's career.Â
North Florida currently leads the nation in three-pointers having made 115 this season in nine games and are ranked third with 12.8 treys per game. In addition, UNF ranks third in three-point percentage (46.2) highlighted with three players listed in the Top 55 - Trent Mackey (4th), Beech (25th) and Moore (55th).
Saturday's game marks the first all-time meeting between UNF and Dayton. The Ospreys are 0-1 against teams from the Atlantic 10 with the Flyers marking the second of three A-10 foes on the docket this season. UNF already played Saint Louis and are scheduled to face VCU on Dec. 30.
Dayton enters Saturday's contest with a 5-1 record and looking to rebound from their first loss of the season vs Xavier, 90-61. The Flyers are 3-0 at home this season having opened the year with wins over Southeast Missour State, Alabama and William & Mary.
Following their game with Dayton, North Florida will take a week off from competition for fall semester exams. The Ospreys will return to the hardwood on Dec. 12 against Coastal Georgia in a game that tips off a four-game home stand.
