JACKSONVILLEÂ -- The North Florida basketball team continues a four-game home stand Monday against in-state foe Florida International at 7 p.m. in UNF Arena.
The Ospreys are 7-4 this season following a program Division I era record 117 point output on Saturday against Coastal Georgia. UNF's historic win also extended the team's current home win streak to 11 games.
Against Coastal Georgia, senior Demarcus Daniels scored a season-high 20 points in leading six Ospreys in double figures. The game featured several career best performances including 15 points by Nick Malonga, eight points for Ismaila Dauda and six points by Karlos Odum. UNF also continued to sizzle from long distance hitting 14 three-pointers to move to the top of the national rankings for total treys and threes made per game.
FIU enters Monday's tilt with a 4-5 record having lost three straight including an 84-76 overtime loss against FGCU in their last outing on Dec. 6. The other defeats in the span include games versus Stetson and Elon. The contest also marks just the second true road game of the season for the Panthers.
Adrian Diaz leads the Panthers in both scoring (15.8 ppg) and rebounding (9.3 rpg) while also ranking first in the nation for blocked shots at 4.44 per game.
Following FIU, North Florida continues its stretch of four games in eight days Wednesday versus Austin Peay before closing the span Saturday against Florida A&M.
