BATON ROUGE, La. -- After a brief one-game home stand, the North Florida basketball team hits the road for a two-game swing beginning Wednesday against LSU in the Maravich Center. The game will be broadcast online by the SEC Network+ (WatchESPN app) with a tipoff of 7 p.m. (CT).
The Ospreys are 6-2 entering the game and have won three straight including an 80-72 victory over Trinity Baptist on Monday night. Dallas Moore scored 20 points in leading five UNF players in double figures, while Chris Davenport collected his second double-double of the season finishing with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Beau Beech had 16 points followed by Demarcus Daniels with 13 and Trent Mackey with 12.
North Florida currently leads the nation in three-pointers having made 96 this season in eight games and are ranked second with 12.0 treys per game. In addition, UNF ranks 6th in three-point percentage with three players listed in the Top 60 - Mackey (3rd), Moore (56th), Beech (57th).
Wednesday's game marks the first all-time meeting between UNF and LSU. The Ospreys are 0-11 against teams from the SEC with the Tigers marking the first of two SEC foes on the schedule this season. UNF visits Arkansas on Dec. 22.
LSU comes into the contest at 3-3 following a tough 70-58 loss at College of Charleston on Monday. The Tigers have dropped three straight after opening the season with three wins. Freshman standout Ben Simmons leads LSU statistically averaging a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds.
Following the LSU game, North Florida concludes its road trip Saturday against Dayton.
