JACKSONVILLEÂ -- The North Florida basketball team gets a brief break from the road as the Ospreys welcome Trinity Baptist Monday night to UNF Arena for their lone home contest in a seven-game stretch. The game is sponsored by Global Diamonds and is set to tip-off at 7 p.m.
Following a pair of solid victories over the weekend in Hartford, Conn., the Ospreys enter Monday's contest with a 5-2 record. UNF is averaging 82 points per game this season highlighted by an average of 102 points scored in their previous two home games.
Five UNF players are averaging double-digit points led by junior Dallas Moore's 20.3 points per game. Seniors Beau Beech (14.1) and Trent Mackey (13.9) along with junior Chris Davenport (12.4) and senior Demarcus Daniels (10.7) round out the quintet. In addition, North Florida ranks among the nation's leaders in both three-pointers made (85) and three-point percentage (45.2).
Trinity Baptist comes into Monday's matchup with a 2-5 mark having lost five straight. The Eagles are led in scoring by Shelton Burruss at 9.2 points per contest. UNF and TBC met last season with the Ospreys posting a 106-60 victory on Jan. 6 in UNF Arena.
Prior to tip-off on Monday, the UNF Athletic Department will present championship rings to the Ospreys in recognition of their historic accomplishments of the 2014-15 season, which included Atlantic Sun regular season and tournament titles along with the program's first appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The game also marks the inaugural viewing of the team's introduction video on the recently installed center-hung video scoreboard.
After hosting Trinity Baptist, North Florida returns to the road for a pair of games against nationally recognized programs, playing at LSU on Wednesday (Dec. 2) and Saturday at Dayton (Dec. 5).
