WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- The North Florida basketball team returns to the hardwood Friday against Hartford in continuing play of the Brooklyn Hoops Holiday Invitational. The game is slated to tip at 7 p.m. from the Chase Family Arena at Reich Pavilion.
After starting the season with three straight victories, the Ospreys (3-2) look to snap a two-game skid following losses at Louisville and Saint Louis.
Against the Billikens, UNF struggled shooting the ball making just five three-pointers in the contest. Despite the sluggish performance, the Ospreys are still averaging 83 points per game and making 12.8 treys a contest.
Junior Dallas Moore collected another double-digit scoring performance finishing with 16 points to go along with team leading totals in rebound (7) and assists (6). Moore has also handed out 33 assists while committing just seven turnovers. Fellow junior Chris Davenport tops the squad in rebounding at 8.2 per game while he and senior teammate Demarcus Daniels combine to be the Atlantic Sun Conference's top shotblocking duo.Â
Friday's game marks the first all-time meeting between UNF and Hartford and just the third time North Florida has faced an America East member having dropped a pair of previous matchups against Binghamton.
Hartford enters the tilt with a 3-2 mark and riding a two-game win streak following victories over St. Peter's and Niagara. The Hawks two losses have come against the same two teams that handed UNF their blemishes as UH lost 85-68 at Saint Louis and 87-52 at Louisville. Pancake Thomas leads a balanced Hartford squad averaging 13.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.Â
Following Friday's game, North Florida wraps up its current four-game road swing against St. Francis Brooklyn in the Chase Family Arena, Saturday at 7 p.m.
