MELBOURNE, Fla. – Inclement weather rolled through central Florida and wiped out the evening final sessions on Day three of the Florida Tech Invite. The morning prelim times were made final and more schedule changes are likely for Sunday.
The Osprey got plenty of good swims in before the weather spoiled the day including the second win of the meet for senior Amy Taylor. She claimed a victory in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:51.36, the sixth fastest time in school history. She has now placed seven times in the program's top-10 this season.
Nearly equally as impressive was the performance of freshman Lauren Kelso who placed second in the 400 Individual Medley. Her time of 4:38.78 bested seven other swimmers and was the fastest 400 IM time by an Osprey in three years.
Sophomore Chase Walker entered her name in the North Florida top-10 list in the 100 fly with a time of 57.31, a new career best. It is right behind Taylor's time earlier this season for the eighth fastest in the program's history.
A total of 11 new personal bests were established in the prelims this afternoon.
