JACKSONVILLE -- The Atlantic Sun Conference leading North Florida basketball team tips off the longest home stand of the season Thursday night against Kennesaw State at 7 p.m. in UNF Arena.
The Ospreys (13-9, 5-0 ASun) have won six straight marking the longest win streak in the program's 10-year Division I era and are the only remaining undefeated team in the Atlantic Sun. The game with Kennesaw State (6-15, 1-4) will be just the second conference home game of the season for UNF, who just posted a perfect 3-0 record on their recently completed road swing, and the first of three consecutive home contests.
UNF overcame a double-digit halftime deficit in Saturday's victory over Lipscomb sparked by a 27-point performance from junior Beau Beech, which included 24 points and six three-pointers in the second half. Senior Jalen Nesbitt, who made 13-of-16 free throws, finished with 19 points and seven rebounds while junior Trent Mackey chipped in 12 points in the victory.Â
Kennesaw State enters Thursday's tilt having lost four of their last five including a 54-48 loss to Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday. The Owls lone win in conference play came last Thursday night versus Stetson, 88-82.Â
As part of the Atlantic Sun's ESPN3 on Campus initiative, Thursday's game will be part of the league's weekly package. Local radio personality and member of Jaguars Public Relations staff, JP Shadrick, will handle the play-by-play duties while former UNF assistant coach Lee Moon, Jr., will provide color analysis. The game will be available online at ESPN3 as well as on the WatchESPN app.
After facing KSU, North Florida continues its home stand against USC Upstae on Saturday at 7 p.m.
