NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- In an early battle for the top spot in the Atlantic Sun Conference standings, the North Florida basketball team puts its unblemished league record on the line against undefeated Lipscomb on Saturday at Allen Arena. The game is scheduled to tipoff at 4 p.m. (CT) on ESPN3.
The Ospreys (12-9, 4-0 ASun) are playing their third consecutive A-Sun road game and fourth in five games, while the Bisons (10-9, 4-0) are hosting their fourth league game of the season. Both squads carry five-game win streaks into Saturday's clash.
In UNF's win at Northern Kentucky on Thursday night, Chris Davenport paced the Osprey attack finishing with a season-best 24 points including 16 in the second half. Dallas Moore chipped in 19 points with Beau Beech adding 14. Beech and Jalen Nesbitt led the way on the glass for the Ospreys pulling down seven boards each.
Lipscomb survived a tough challenge from Jacksonville on Thursday night en route to an 80-77 win in double overtime.
The Ospreys and Bisons are both ranked among the league leaders in nearly every statistical category including being the top three-point shooting squads. Both teams average over nine treys made per game and average over 70 points per game.
Following the Lipscomb game, North Florida returns home and tips off the longest home stand of the season (3 games) on Thursday night against Kennesaw State.
