HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. -- The North Florida basketball team opens a challenging Atlantic Sun Conference road trip on Thursday night against Northern Kentucky at the Bank of Kentucky Center. The game is scheduled to tipoff at 7 p.m. on ESPN3.
The Ospreys (11-9, 3-0 ASun) have moved to the top of the conference standings after starting league play with three consecutive victories including an 80-65 win at Stetson on Saturday. UNF has matched the program's best conference start as a Division I program and are also riding a current four-game overall win streak, the second longest of the season.
Despite shooting just 39 percent from the field against Stetson, the Ospreys posted their third consecutive double-digit margin of victory in the A-Sun behind 12 three-pointers and a decisive 25-5 run in the second half. Jalen Nesbitt and Beau Beech each finished with 17 points to pace the UNF offensive attack while Demarcus Daniels pulled down a career best 12 rebounds and swatted three shots for the Osprey "D".
Sophomore Dallas Moore followed up his career high 27 points and nine assists performance against FGCU with 16 points and four steals at Stetson to earn his second Atlantic Sun Player of the Week honor on Monday.
Northern Kentucky enters Thursday's tilt at 8-10 overall and 2-1 in conference action. The Norse dropped their league opener at Lispcomb before capturing a pair of closely contested games with Kennesaw State (76-72) and USC Upstate (66-65). NKU is 5-3 at home this season having won two of their last three at the BOK Center.
After NKU game, North Florida wraps up its current road stretch on Saturday at A-Sun co-leader Lipscomb.
