Program Best Total Stakes #WGOLF to 3rd Place Finish at MSU Ocala Invitational

DUNNELLON, Fla. -- Behind a program best tournament total, the North Florida women's golf team claimed a third-place finish in the MSU Ocala Spring Invitational at Juliette Falls Golf Resort.
The Ospreys finished the 54-hole event with a program record low total of 902 including a final round 299 on Tuesday. UNF's finish marked the squad's second consecutive top five showing and third of the season.
Sophomore Belinda George was the Osprey's top performer earning a personal best finish of 13th. George, who carded a career low round on day one, posted a final round 77 en route to a career best total of 224.
Fellow sophomore Emelie Alpe led the UNF charge in the final round firing a 1-over 73 to finish tied for 14th at 225. Freshmen Lauren Coe and Nathalie Nygren both finished tied for 21st at 228, after shooting rounds of 75 and 74, respectively. Sophomore Mary Rodgers rounded out the Osprey lineup in a tie for 52nd at 237.
Leading wire-to-wire, Daytona State claimed the team championship with a three-day tally of 889, while Houston Baptist was second at 895. Toledo (905) finished three shots behind UNF in fourth followed by Murray State (911), Florida Gulf Coast (912), Eastern Kentucky (916), Morehead State (917), Stetson (917), Ohio (920), McNeese State (926), Northern Illinois (939), Akron (943), Western Kentucky (956), Austin Peay (959), Nebraska-Omaha (1004).
North Florida will next co-host the Web.com Intercollegiate on Apr. 7-8 at Marsh Landing Country Club. The event marks the final regular season event before the Atlantic Sun Championship.
