DUNNELLON, Fla. -- The North Florida women's golf team continues its solid spring campaign at the MSU Ocala Spring Invitational beginning on Sunday at Juliette Falls Golf Course.
In their last outing on Mar. 10-11, the Ospreys posted a third-place finish marking the squad's second best finish in program history.
"The team has put together some good rounds this spring," said UNF head coach Joanne Steele. "We are looking to build on those performances and have a strong showing at the MSU Ocala Invitational. We are heading into the second half of the spring season and need to focus on keeping our team scores consistently at or below 300 for each round."
A trio of sophomores - Kelly Aylwin, Emelie Alpe and Belinda George - lead the UNF lineup into the Ocala Invitational, which will also included freshman Lauren Coe and Nathalie Nygren. Sophomore Mary Rodgers will also be participating in the event as an individual.
The Ocala Invitational is hosted by Morehead State and features a 16-team field that includes: Akron, Austin Peay, Daytona State, Eastern Kentucky, Florida Gulf Coast, Houston Baptist, McNeese State, Murray State, Nebrask-Omaha, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Stetson, Toldeo and Western Kentucky.
The event is a 54-hole, three-day competition that runs Sunday through Tuesday on the par 72 layout.
